Well, the first thing to do is to understand what discrimination actually means, because there are many misunderstandings when you ask this question.

The Equality Act 2010 serves to protect individuals against discrimination for the following characteristics.

- Gender
- Sexual Orientation
- Religious Beliefs
- Disability
- Age
- Gender Reassignment
- Marriage or Civil Partnerships
- Pregnancy and Maternity
There are many forms of discrimination, but the basic ones are direct, indirect, harassment, victimisation, discrimination by association and also by perception.
